SUMMARY:Grand Opening of “Remembering Through Art” Online Exhibition: A tribute to memory\, resilience & justice
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to invite you to register for the No-Oblivion Grand Opening Event of the “Remembering Through Art” online exhibition\, taking place on March 27-28. This exceptional exhibition features artworks that explore the deeply personal and compelling themes of memory\, conflict\, and justice\, drawing from the powerful testimonies of victims and witnesses of the crimes committed since January 1991 in the territory of what is referred as the   former Yugoslavia.  \nBy engaging with this exhibition\, the artists are part of an important dialogue that honors and remembers the profound experiences of those affected by the conflicts. Their works inspire reflection\, provoke thought\, and contribute to ongoing conversations about reconciliation\, resilience\, understanding\, and societal change.  \nArt Inspired by Testimonies of the Victims  \nThe artists were tasked with creating artworks based on the history and memory of the conflict in the Former Yugoslavia. One possible source of inspiration was based on anonymized quotes from the Voice of the Victims ICTY program and victim and witness accounts from ICTY judgments. These personal and heartbreaking testimonies give voice to the experiences of those who lived through these harrowing events. Some of the powerful quotes that inspired the artists include:  \n\n“He trampled on my pride and I will never be able to be the woman that I was.” \n\n\n“I was beaten\, I fell down\, but I got up too\, because those who fell down\, they never got up again.” \n\n\n“We received food every two or three days\, a quarter of a loaf of bread\, a small tin of pate\, no water… so we rinsed our mouths with urine.” \n\n\n“It took some persuasion to convince my neighbor with whom I had lived my whole life that I was suddenly his enemy and that I was to be killed.” \n\nThese and many more poignant quotes provide the emotional foundation for the artworks on display\, which span a variety of mediums including painting\, digital illustration\, video\, photography\, mixed media\, drawing\, and etching.  \n27 Artists\, 10+ Countries\, One Virtual Gallery  \nA total of 27 artists from more 9 countries have been shortlisted for the exhibition\, each contributing their unique perspective on the themes of memory and justice. Their works will be showcased in a virtual gallery hosted on the No-Oblivion website\, accessible to all.  \nJoin Us for the Grand Opening Event  \nThe grand opening event will be held online on March 27-28\, from 13:00 to 16:00 (CET)\, giving you the chance to interact directly with the artists\, hear about their creative processes\, and understand the emotional and conceptual inspirations behind their works. It’s an opportunity to engage with art that reflects some of the most important stories of our time.  \nDuring the event\, we will also announce the four winners of the exhibition\, who will receive prizes\, including invitations to the prestigious Reviving Balkan Arts Festival in Croatia or cash awards.  \nSpecial Guest Speaker: Dijana Muminović  \nWe are honored to welcome Dijana Muminović\, a Bosnian-American award-winning documentary photographer who has spent the past decade telling powerful stories of immigration\, human rights\, and the aftermath of the Bosnian conflict. Dijana’s work provides an important perspective on the human cost of war\, and we look forward to her contribution to this event.  \nBe Part of This Meaningful Dialogue  \nBy participating in the “Remembering Through Art” exhibition\, you are contributing to an important conversation about memory\, justice\, resilience and reconciliation. We invite you to join us for this unique opportunity to reflect\, engage\, and be inspired by the profound stories shared through art.  \nRegister here to secure your spot at the grand opening event!
