When it was founded on January 16 , 1978 , the WEISSE RING Austria was only the idea of a few committed people from politics, the media and the judiciary. As a general victim support organisation, Weisser Ring provides information to all crime victims and helps them finding specialised support institutions. The Weisser Ring offers special support and court accompaniment to victims of situative violence.
The development of the WHITE RING is inextricably linked to the emergence of victim rights and their anchoring in the Criminal Code and the Crime Victims Act. Together with other victim support facilities, which were also founded in the 1970s, the WEISSE RING made an active contribution to this development.
The federal office is based in Alserbachstrasse in Vienna. Nine state leaders and 15 regional branch offices are involved in victim work nationwide.
