Victim Support Europe is proud to announce that The Equality and Human Rights Action Centre (ACTEDO) in Romania is now an associate member.
ACTEDO is a Romanian NGO established in 2013 whose mission is to promote fundamental rights and gender equality and to ACT against human rights violations. To this purpose, ACTEDO engages in advocacy, research, educational and community development activities, aiming to raise awareness, increase active participation and facilitate access to justice for all.
ACTEDO aims to prevent and address the causes of human rights abuses and of gender inequality, including the lack of human rights education, stereotypical views and practices of femininity and masculinity, violence and institutional failures to implement laws and sanctions.
In 2014, ACTEDO has established the Pro Bono Network for Human Rights, a network of lawyers providing free legal advice and representation to victims of human rights violations and discrimination in Romania.
