VSE Executive Director Levent Altan had a shared presentation with Isabelle Sadowski, from the French Victim Support and Mediation Institute (INAVEM) during the third meeting of the European Network on Victims’ Rights.
The presentation “The specificity of NGOs’ work regarding the support provided to victims of terrorism: coordination between NGOs, special rights training, complementarity between networks as VSE and ENVR” had two main aspects: The framework for determining victim oriented intervention and Defining victims & understanding their needs.
Mr Altan and Ms Sadowski spoke about nature of attacks and timeline of actions related to the attack – planning, preparation and prevention, crisis response and log term services & self advocacy. In the second part of the presentation they emphasized common needs of victims, needs of specific groups and individual needs of victims as well as soul definition of a victim in terms of range and circles of impact.
The third meeting of the European Network on Victims’ Rights (ENVR) was organised by France in and it was held in Paris on the 7th of April 2017. Seminar is held in cooperation with Netherlands Slovakia, Ireland and Hungary and the main focus was on specific support for victims of terrorism as EU adopted the terrorism combating directive.
