Winter 2019 News from Victim Support Danmark

By February 19, 2019February 1st, 2021News

We have started 2019 by welcoming new colleagues at our secretariat. Lis Oldenborg is employed full time as an administrative employee. Lis has many competencies within organisation, language, communication, website / Intra, economics etc. Something we all look forward to making use of.

We have been granted a 3-year education project that will further develop the education courses in which our volunteers participate. To manage the project we have employed two project coordinators, Cecilie Christensen and Steen Thykjær. They both know how to work with quality, development, education, evaluation and, not least, in a voluntary organisation.

Over the past six months we have participated in a number of working groups, including in the Ministry of Justice, the National Police and the Prosecution Service. Here we have the opportunity to influence and work on improving conditions for victims.

A special area where we are very active is about the challenges victims experience in the area of compensation.  A very long processing time is a heavy strain on the victims. We also focus on an extension of the period of time that legal advocates can assist the victims.

We have also spent time making responses to the Danish Parliament (Folketinget), just as we have been contacted by the media – both in relation to specific cases but also in relation to more general attitudes to eg. legislative changes.

At the moment our board and secretariat are preparing for our upcoming annual meeting and general meeting in April. An annual report and a draft of a new action plan for 2019-2021 will be prepared.
