Irish Permanent Representatives to the EU meets Victim Support Europe

VSE recently met with the Irish Permanent Representatives to the EU to discuss victims’ rights priorities, upcoming EU legislative developments, and opportunities for collaboration, including in the context of Ireland’s forthcoming EU Presidency. 

Discussions focused on strengthening the implementation of the Victims’ Rights Directive, improving access to 116006 helpline standards, compensation, legal aid, and accessible information for all victims. Related files such as the violence against women and domestic violence directive, child sexual abuse directive and the child sexual abuse materials regulation, the recent anti-trafficking and anti-racism strategies were also highlighted. 

VSE shared the upcoming VSE Strategy 2026–2030, reinforcing commitments to mainstream victims’ rights, amplify victims’ voices, improve access to high-quality support, and strengthen responses to emerging harms, terrorism and mass victimisation. 

The meeting concluded with a shared interest in continued collaboration and upcoming VSE events.
