About

What is the Youth Ambassadors Platform?

Young people’s opinions are often missing from conversations that shape victim support, which leads to services that don’t fully reflect their needs.

The Youth Ambassadors Platform gives YOU the power to lead, to influence policy, and to co-create meaningful change within Victim Support Europe.

The vision

Victim Support Europe’s (VSE) vision is to empower the youth through the representation of Youth Ambassadors (YA) who will actively engage in VSE’s work through VSE’s Youth Ambassadors Platform. Through the platform, and by engaging in the activities of VSE’s various departments, young people can be active participants in shaping the policies, services, and systems that affect victims around Europe and globally.

Through the Youth Ambassadors Platform, VSE seeks to amplify the voices of young people, ensuring their perspectives are included in developing meaningful change within victim support and justice systems, fostering a culture of resilience, empowerment, and inclusion.

Your mission

The Youth Ambassadors Platform is dedicated to ensuring that young people are heard and valued while actively shaping the activities and priorities of VSE. The platform aims to integrate youth insights into VSE’s everyday work and build a supportive community where young people can share their experiences, develop their capacities, and lead initiatives that reflect the needs of the youth and support their aspirations

I’m Ilhan Radetinac, a human rights advocate and documentary storyteller from Serbia, passionate about social justice, ecology, and youth empowerment. With experience in activism, research, and creative media, I use storytelling as a tool for awareness and change. My motivation to join YAP comes from a desire to connect with like-minded young leaders and amplify the voices of marginalized communities across the Balkans.

I am an English Literature graduate from Durham University and I am currently studying a part-time Masters in Creative Writing at the University of Oxford whilst undertaking an internship in public relations. In May 2017, at the age of thirteen, I survived the Manchester Arena Attack. Since then, I have become a co-founder and author of the ‘Bee the Difference’ research project , in collaboration with the National Emergencies Trust, which advocates for an improved support system for future young survivors of sudden traumatic incidents in the UK.

Following a significant personal experience, I chose to leave France and rebuild my life abroad. This journey has deeply shaped the direction I have given to my career.

Prior to that, I completed four years of legal studies, which provided me with a strong legal foundation.

I am currently specializing in victims’ rights with the goal of obtaining a certification in the United States and becoming a victim advocate. Having personally experienced being on the other side, this path carries a very human dimension for me and naturally guides the way I approach support and advocacy.

My commitment is both professional and deeply human. I aim to use my skills and experience to support victims by offering attentive listening, meaningful support, and appropriate guidance with fairness and compassion.

I work as policy coordinator at Global Diplomacy Bridge. My current main interests centre around AI, energy and conflict prevention. After training at the European Commission’s AI Office, I led Negotiation Agents.AI, an independent project to develop AI tools for multiparty negotiation training. I hold a Master’s degree in international relations and multilingual communication from the Université libre de Bruxelles. Alongside my policy work, I have a background in film production, with experience in directing, camera, script development and acting.

I hold a masters degree in criminology and bachelors in criminal justice. My interest in the Youth Ambassadors program stems from my background knowledge in the criminal justice systems and the understanding that within the criminal justice system, victims have time and again been left out. I volunteer to give support to both primary and secondary victims in the hope that one day the victims will have more rights and will be given more light than they receive now.

Get involved

The goal is for every Youth Ambassador to engage with us across all areas of our work – to understand what we do and to contribute to our many activities through our four teams:

Voice It Out with the Policy Team — Participate in EU-level events, join ‘Policy Cafés’ with peers and experts, and co-create focus groups to voice your opinion and drive real policy change.

Take Action with the Projects Team — Co-design and deliver workshops, gather real-world data on victimisation, and launch mini awareness campaigns by getting involved in our projects.

Spread the Word with the Communications Team — Co-create reels, podcasts, visuals, and blogs, and represent youth voices at events, webinars, and social media takeovers.

Power Up with the Capacity Building Team — Connect in-person with fellow ambassadors in Brussels, access free online training with certificates, and join themed working groups to boost your skills.

COMMUNICATIONS TEAM – TELL THE STORIES THAT MATTER

✅ Give Young People a Voice: Co-create Instagram reels, podcast episodes, or blog posts and share your views, or interview others, on victimisation.

Create with a Purpose: Help design visuals, infographics, or animations that explain victims’ rights in fun, accessible ways.

✅ Lead the Movement: Represent the Youth Platform during awareness days by participating at events, hosting webinars or Q&A sessions, or taking over VSE’s social media for a day.

CAPACITY BUILDING TEAM – GROW YOUR SKILLS, GROW THE MOVEMENT

✅ Connect in Brussels: Join a fully-funded in-person meetup with fellow Youth Ambassadors – share ideas, build friendships, and collaborate on real solutions at the heart of Europe.
