Victim Support England and Wales: new online resource now available to all victims of crime

Victim Support’s new online resource, My Support Space, has been re-launched in May 2020 as a resource available to all victims of crime across England and Wales.

The tool, designed to help victims manage the impact that crime has had on them, was previously launched on 1 April 2020 in certain parts of the country, but is now expanded thanks to funding from the Ministry of Justice.

Anyone affected by crime in England and Wales can access My Support Space, regardless of whether an incident was reported to the police. The personalised toolkit allows victims to pick and choose how they access this (on a PC, tablet or phone), which range of tools and guides they work through, and when they decide to use the resource.

The range of topics addressed by the victim is up to them, and guides cover issues such as mental wellbeing, home safety, and talking to children after crime. Users can work through a series of interactive guides which address their specific needs at their own pace. The guides feature videos, techniques, activities and tips.

Victims of crime can access My Support Space regardless of whether they have reported the crime, or when it took place. It is a free, safe, secure and confidential resource.

Diana Fawcett, Chief Executive at Victim Support said:

Victim Support is committed to ensuring that victims of crime receive effective support in a way that works for them. At this time many victims of crime will be worried or may understandably find certain aspects of day-to-day life more challenging.

My Support Space is an important resource for people affected by crime as it includes topics such as difficult emotions, coping strategies, trauma and sleep. These are all common issues that people may experience after crime, but may be intensified during the coronavirus pandemic.”
