Today, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR) and REDRESS are releasing their report on “Breaking Down Barriers: Access to Justice in Europe for Victims of International Crimes”.
As the result of 2 years of research, the report analysis the situation of victims of war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, torture and enforced disappearance. Based on the practices of five Member States’ specialised units – Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden – it provides a roadmap for improving victims’ access to information, protection and support, as well as recommendations to policy makers working to implement the EU Victims’ Rights Strategy 2020-2025.
The report was launched during a webinar organised on Monday 26th October, gathering human rights defenders and representatives from EU institutions and civil society organisations.
