OPEN CALL FOR VICTIM SUPPORT WORKERS from South-East-Central Europe

By April 15, 2019February 1st, 2021News

Victim Support Europe is launching a paid Regional Exchange Event in Zagreb, offering a unique opportunity for victim support practitioners that are eager to foster a dialogue between a broader public and get knowledge on how to improve victim support services in their countries!
This year, we are focusing on the region with new or aspiring EU Member States, very broadly defined as South-East-Central Europe. We welcome participants from those countries!
Note that Victim Support Europe may cover costs of participation for a limited number of participants (one per participating organisation!). Advantage will, of course, be given to VSE members.

Where? Zagreb, Croatia
When? 21-22 May 2019

We selected participating countries based on somewhat shared legal traditions and (to at least an extent) cultural values, but also having in mind that the countries invited share difficulties in providing generic nation-wide services to victims and the implementation of the EU Victims’ Rights Directive. Moreover, bearing in mind that naturally increased cross-border exchange between neighbouring countries is very likely to result in an increased incidence of cross-border victimisation between neighbours, we found the possibility of looking into those shared issues important for our present work and for our planning for our (and your) future.

We are grateful to our Croatian members: Association for victim and witness support together with the Service for victims and witness support of the Croatian Ministry of Justice for their assistance in organising this event.
