Symposium “116006 Victim Helpline: One number. One standard. Equal support for every victim.”

Date: 20 February 2026 | 🕘 09:30 – 13:45 CET
Location: Brussels Press Club, Brussels

Every year, Victim Support Europe (VSE) commemorates the European Day for Victims of Crime, a day dedicated to advocating for progress and legal improvements in comprehensive support for all victims of crime, regardless of the type of crime or the identity of the victim.

In 2026, this event is a particularly reflective and forward-looking occasion, focused on promoting the establishment of 116 006 Victims of Crime Helplines in every EU Member State, in line with the minimum standards developed by VSE. The event brings together victims-advocates, activists, victim support professionals, and high-level stakeholders to honour the resilience of crime victims and highlight the essential role of support services in their recovery journey.

The event will feature victim testimonies, expert panel discussions, and interactive exchanges, offering a holistic perspective on victim support helplines across Europe. Discussions will address personal experiences, operational practices, policy frameworks, innovation, and future directions, underscoring how harmonised EU helpline services contribute to quality, safety, and equal access to support for all victims of crime.

By combining lived experiences with professional and policy perspectives, the event aims to strengthen collaboration and reinforce commitment to ensuring that every victim in the EU has access to effective, high-quality support through the 116 006 Victim Helpline.
