Laura Ruiz Astorga

Policy and Projects Assistant (Internship)

Laura Ruiz Astorga joined VSE in September of 2022 as a Policy and Projects Assistant, providing support to both teams. She obtained her Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and International Relations from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she developed a passion for human rights that led her to study a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science. After graduating she went off to work as a researcher in two UK-based projects dealing with gendered approaches to transitional justice and peacebuilding – the UKRI GCRF Gender Justice and Security Hub and the Performing Violence Project. Right before joining VSE she completed a traineeship at the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), where she was a part of the management team for the 2022 Fundamental Rights Report. Her working experience includes, additionally, an internship for the Spanish Permanent Representation at the European Union, where she provided assistance to the Development Cooperation Working Party.
