Together Against Human Trafficking – Join the European Commission’s Awareness Raising Campaign

By February 26, 2026March 27th, 2026News

We would like to draw your attention to an EU-wide awareness raising campaign that the European Commission has launched to tackle human trafficking.

Around 10 000 people are identified as trafficking victims each year in the EU, with many more going unnoticed and unprotected. Victims include both citizens from EU countries and those from outside the EU, who are forced into sexual or labour exploitation, forced criminality or other forms of human trafficking.  There is an invisible chain that links trafficking networks, victims and those who use trafficked victims’ services, often unknowingly. The campaign “End Human Trafficking. Break the Invisible Chain” aims to shed light on this often invisible crime and to enable citizens and victims to recognise the signs, report a suspected case of human trafficking and get support.

The first step to break the chain is to raise awareness – prevent trafficking in the first place by informing potential victims and making the victims of this crime visible.

But there is more that we can do. We can get involved by:

  • Learning 10 signs that someone may be a victim of human trafficking.
  • Knowing where to report suspected trafficking cases and offer support to trafficking victims.

Ending human trafficking is a priority for the EU and its partners. Every person’s contribution could be decisive in the fight against trafficking in human beings.

As members of the Victim Support Europe network, we are at the forefront of assisting and protecting victims of crime across the continent. By promoting this campaign, sharing its materials, and raising awareness within our communities, we help strengthen prevention, early identification, and access to support. This initiative closely aligns with our shared mission to ensure that all victims of crime are recognised, protected, and supported.

Join the campaign by spreading the word and by using the multilingual campaign materials that you can find hereTogether, we can amplify the message and make a meaningful difference across Europe. Together we can put an end to human trafficking.
