Victim Support Europe is proud to share that the United Nations has formally published our official written statement (E/C.2/2026/CRP.23) for the 2026 ECOSOC High-Level Segment and the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) convening at UN Headquarters.
This year’s theme focuses on “Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda.”
Victims’ needs and rights cut across the entire Sustainable Development Agenda. From SDG 5: Gender Equality to SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, victimisation intersects with many of the challenges addressed by the Sustainable Development Goals. At the same time, emerging and evolving forms of crime continue to create new risks and vulnerabilities.
To achieve the SDGs, victim-centred approaches must be systematically mainstreamed and effectively implemented across policy areas and institutions. Our written contribution to the High-level segment further adds to VSE’s Strategic Objective 5 on Pursuing victims’ issues and victim-centric solutions in the wider world.
The contribution can be found on page 139.
