CESIE ETS is a European study and initiative centre founded in 2001 and inspired by the work and theories of sociologist Danilo Dolci (1924-1997). Our mission is to promote innovation, participation and growth in education.
The CESIE ETS pomegranate symbolizes the “fruitful” unity of people and groups that grow together under the same “peel”. The pomegranate grows on any type of soil and represents for us a symbol of prosperity in the educational sector.
CESIE breaks with the global ethnocentric perspective to focus on individuals and diversity.
In this way, we put into practice the teachings of Danilo Dolci who developed innovative educational methods based on nonviolence (for example the “reverse strike” – work without pay, through which ordinary people engaged in unauthorized public works, starting from and for the benefit of the local community in the 1950s in Sicily).
