Duration:  All-day event

Location: Malta (Urban Valley Resort)

The DISRUPT project is at the forefront of combating technology-facilitated trafficking of human beings (THB), with a particular focus on the use of digital evidence in countering child trafficking for sexual exploitation.

In this context, DISRUPT 2025 seeks to strengthen participants’ knowledge of digital evidence in THB investigations, with a special focus on identifying and developing solutions which combine technological innovation, legal and policy instruments as well as enhanced collaboration mechanisms among various categories of national and international stakeholders.

Additionally, the conference will address some of the most challenging aspects of combating child trafficking, including:

  • Identifying instances of trafficking among vulnerable communities, such as irregular migrants.
  • Implementing victim-centric approaches in both investigative and support mechanisms.
  • Developing preventive investigative approaches that address root causes and systemic vulnerabilities.
  • Fostering intelligence exchange between security actors and non-security actors who provide victim support, ensuring that these efforts remain victim-centric and human rights compliant.
  • Increasing the robustness of legal frameworks which facilitate effective investigations, while protecting victims.

Finally, the event will focus on raising awareness about the DISRUPT project’s outcomes and promoting good practices across the EU, including the DISRUPT Manual on using digital evidence on combating child trafficking and the DISRUPT Graphic Novel.

Through dynamic dialogue, interactive panels and thematic workshops, the conference aims to foster meaningful discussions about future directions in the fight against technology-facilitated trafficking.
