Starting this month, Victim Support Europe will roll out a thematic spotlight campaign on social media, forming a central part of its wider campaign, 2025 – The Year of Victims’ Rights. This year-long campaign focuses on strengthening the visibility of victims’ rights and the importance of accessible, comprehensive support services across the EU.
2025 – The Year of Victims’ Rights is an EU-wide initiative led by Victim Support Europe and its members to draw attention to the rights and needs of victims of crime. The campaign seeks to engage the public, professionals, and policymakers in a collective effort to ensure that all victims, regardless of who they are or where they live, can access justice, protection, and support. By promoting awareness, sharing knowledge, and encouraging coordinated action, the campaign aims to strengthen victim support systems and uphold fundamental rights throughout Europe.
Running from May to November, the spotlight campaign will follow a consistent structure each month:
-
🎯 One spotlighted victims’ rights – highlighting 5 of the victims’ rights that must be guaranteed across the EU
-
📊 Five to six country-specific factsheets – based on our latest BeneVict research findings, provide insights into how victims’ rights are upheld—or overlooked—across different national contexts.”
-
🎥 One “Voices of Victims” video – sharing authentic, first-hand experiences from individuals affected by crime
