Breaking Barriers: Understanding the Needs of Victims/Survivors to Empower Access to Community Supports

In 2021, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) launched the Breaking Barriers project with funding from the Government of Canada’s Public Safety Canada through the Contribution Program to Combat Serious and Organized Crime (CPCSOC). The initiative aimed to strengthen the identification, support, and referral of victims of trafficking in persons (TIP) by embedding victim-centred and trauma-informed practices within policing responses across Ontario.
