Efthymis Antonopoulos
As Jnr. Policy Manager, Efthymis is responsible for leading the Policy team, while at the same time is undertaking additional strategic/business oriented responsibilities, as part of the management grouping of the organisation. Prior to VSE, Efthymis has been the Senior Research Officer and Migration and Anti-trafficking Focal Point at Missing Children Europe, coordinating pertinent policy analysis and projects on data collection and analysis, vulnerabilities, children in migration and guardianship systems for unaccompanied migrant children. Before that, and as staff of IOM (Greece Country Office, Brussels Regional Office), he has worked at Emergency and Protection activities, both supporting the authorities in managing the reception system for asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants, and enhancing assistance to vulnerable migrants in the EEA+ Region. He has also worked for METAdrasi in training interpreters and coordinating projects on provision of interpretation to asylum authorities, healthcare services, education and NGOs supporting victims of GBV, trafficking and torture, and for Catholic Relief Services in mainstreaming protection to integration and cash disbursements activities.
Efthymis holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Greek Language and Literature and a MSc in International and European Studies, both from the University of Athens. He is a PhD candidate in Literary and Critical Theory focusing on contemporary literature of the migratory genres and linkages with the call for social inclusion and hospitality in a democratic polity.
