After almost 35 years at APAV, João Lázaro, APAV’s Executive President, will join the Portuguese Ombudsman’s Office as one of the Deputy Ombudsmen at the beginning of September.
As he takes on this new role, João Lázaro shared the following message with the VSE community:
Over the years, APAV has become increasingly connected to a wider European and international community working to promote victims’ rights and improve support for those affected by crime. Through partnerships, networks and joint projects, APAV and its partners have exchanged knowledge and experience, developed new approaches and strengthened cooperation in the field of victims’ rights and support.
Cristina Soeiro, APAV’s Vice-President since 2019, will become President of the Board. Carmen Rasquete will become Vice-President, while continuing in her role as Executive Director.
APAV will continue its work to protect victims’ rights and support victims, while maintaining and further strengthening its international partnerships and cooperation.
As for me, it has been a privilege to work alongside so many of you over the years, and I hope our paths will continue to cross in the future.
We wish João Lázaro all the best for this new professional chapter and thank him for his contribution to APAV and to the wider European and international community working to strengthen victims’ rights.
