Apply Now to Participate in the Belgian National Training on Digital Evidence in Human Trafficking Cases
We would like to extend a warm invitation to participate in the DISRUPT national training, which will take place on 16 January and 5 February 2025 in Brussels.
The DISRUPT project aims to strengthen the ability of professionals to handle cases of human trafficking for sexual exploitation. By focusing on digital evidence, the project seeks to improve investigations, prosecutions, and judicial responses, especially in cases where the online dimension plays a crucial role.
The goal of these national training activities is to strengthen the ability of first line practitioners to prevent and investigate cases of human trafficking through a better exploitation of digital evidence. Participants will further gain an in-depth understanding of the impact of human trafficking, as well as improved knowledge on the needs of victims in the aftermath of this crime. A significant focus will be on engagement with victims through victim-centric approaches, the challenges in trust building towards authorities and best practices in overcoming these. Additionally, participants will have the unique opportunity to further build their network through meeting several professionals working in the same field across Belgium.
This 1-day training will be delivered in English and will be hosted on two different dates: Thursday 16 January and Wednesday 5 February 2025. The programme has been tested on EU-wide level and has received very positive feedback.

Background
The DISRUPT project aims to contribute to the fight against human trafficking, particularly of child victims, by strengthening professionals’ capabilities in conducting investigations, prosecutions and judicial responses, that leverage digital evidence. The novelty of the project lies in its focus on methods of collecting and analysing digital evidence in cases of child trafficking, specifically for sexual exploitation, in order to corroborate and strengthen victims’ testimonies, which are sensitive and might be volatile, especially in cases of child victims. DISRUPT will enhance the success rates in the fight against human trafficking at EU level, particularly in cases with an online dimension and digital evidence.
