SAVE THE DATE

WORKSHOP ON THE PROTECTION OF VICTIMS OF TERRORIST ACTS

Organised by the Steering Committee for Human Rights (CDDH) under the under the aegis of the French Presidency of the Committee of Ministers

Thursday 20 June 2019

Dear colleagues,
We are writing to you hoping that you would save the date for an event the Steering Committee on Human Rights is organizing during its 91st session (18-21 June). The  Workshop on the Protection of Victims of Terrorist Acts will take place on 20 June in the afternoon, in Agora, meeting room G01.  The event is organised  as  the effects of terrorism on the victims and their close family members require national implementation of an efficient protection policy, financial assistance and compensation for victims, including, in an appropriate manner, the societal recognition of the suffering of victims alongside a duty to remember.
Bearing this objective in mind, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted, on 19 May 2017, its revised Guidelines on the protection of victims of terrorist acts.
The aim of the Workshop is to raise awareness on the Guidelines and to share experiences of good national practices regarding their implementation.
We hope you can take part in this Workshop.
If this is the case, please confirm at DGI-CDDH@coe.int, we would be happy to welcome you, and to work jointly on this important topic.
Unfortunately, the Council of Europe does not have the budget to cover the cost of travel.
See the  programme!
