“The Smile of the Child” Selected by Safe Online to Pioneer First-Ever Regulatory Sandbox for Child Online Safety

“The Smile of the Child” announced its selection as a grantee of Safe Online, a global fund dedicated to eradicating online child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project to be funded by this grant, COR Sandbox,  will establish a first-of-its-kind mechanism to advance child online safety through collaboration across sectors, borders and generations for consistent, systemic care and redress for children from online harm, based on their rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

25th May: International Missing Children’s Day

Τhe National Center for Missing Children and Adults, operated by “The Smile of the Child”, organized an event at the Zappeion Megaron for the 21st consecutive year, on the occasion of International Missing Children’s Day May 25th. In the presence of the Minister of Citizen Protection, the Deputy Minister of Mental Health, and many other official representatives from the Hellenic Police, the Coast Guard, the Hellenic National Defense, the Hellenic Army, the Hellenic Navy, the Hellenic Air Force and the Fire Department, as well as Embassies from all around Greece, the organization along with the Hellenic Police presented the official statistics of 2024 and the 1st quarter of 2025 regarding missing children.

“The Smile of the Child” has been selected by HP Inc. and the HP Foundation

“The Smile of the Child” has been selected by HP Inc. and the HP Foundation for the implementation of the Digital Equity Accelerator 2025 program in Greece. Through the project actions, it is expected that at least 10,000 students aged 15-17 and young people aged 18-24, with a focus on those facing socio-economic difficulties, health problems, including people with disabilities, teachers, school staff and professionals working with children and young people, parents and volunteers of the Organization will receive quality educational services by acquiring digital social and life skills.

“The Smile of the Child” Supported 97,089 Children in 2024

On Thursday, January 23 2025, “The Smile of the Child” presented the annual report for 2024 for its 10 Action Centers, during a press conference at the Panhellenic Coordinating Operational Center for Direct Social and Medical Intervention “ANDREAS YANNOPOULOS”. Mr. Costas Yannopoulos, President of the Board of Directors of “The Smile of the Child”, noted: “The Smile of the Child”, faithful to accountability and transparency, once again presents the Report on the work and actions of its 10 specialized Centers for the year 2024. Through the statistics … the problems of children and families in need are highlighted, which we are called upon to cover in every part of the country, every moment, as is our struggle to find solutions.”

“The Smile of the Child” Participated in the 25th High-level Session of the OSCE Alliance Against Human Trafficking Conference

At the 25th Session of the OSCE Alliance Against Human Trafficking Conference, held in Vienna on March 31st – April 1st, 2025, “The Smile of the Child” actively participated, organizing an important side event in collaboration with the European Federation for Missing and Sexually Exploited Children – Missing Children Europe (MCE) and the ASTRA organization (Serbia), and the Federal Police of Belgium. The event, held on April 1st, focused on the connection between missing children and trafficking, highlighting the need for greater awareness and immediate action on this critical issue. Over 40 NGOs and Permanent Missions participated in the parallel event, which offered a range of innovative approaches to the participants.
