By September 23, 2014February 1st, 2021News

On 18 November Victim Support Europe organized a conference “Victims of Crime Beyond 2015” in the European Parliament in Brussels.
The event was hosted by Ana Gomes, MEP. Speakers included Claude Moreas, MEP, Chair of the LIBE Committee, Iratxe García Pérez, MEP, Chair of the FEMM Committee, Olivier Tell, Head of Unit “Procedural criminal law” (DG Justice, EC), Olimpia Monaco, Representative of the Italian EU Presidency and Inga Melnace, Representative of the upcoming Latvian EU Presidency.
All speakers particularly insisted on the importance of a correct implementation of the Directive establishing minimum standards on the rights, support and protection of victims of crime by November 2015 and the event was an excellent opportunity to raise the awareness about this crucial issue.
The purpose of the conference was also to present Victim Support Europe’s strategy 2014-19 to the newly elected MEPs. Our recently appointed Executive Director, Levent Altan, spoke for the first time on behalf of Victim Support Europe and presented our strategy for the upcoming years.
The event was a real success and we would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Ana Gomes, MEP for hosting it and making it possible.
Please see here the PROGRAMME of the event.
