Paris, France
VSE’s Executive Director Levent Altan participated in the 19th edition of National Tribute to victims of terrorism organised by Association française des victimes du terrorisme and FENVAC.
The ceremony, attended by hundreds of families and people injured in the attacks, in the presence of President Emmanuel Macron, was held in the gardens of Les Invalides, the burial site of Napoleon Bonaparte and many French war heroes.
The ceremony has been held every year since 2001.Its date – September 19 – was selected because it was on Sept. 19, 1989, that terrorists linked to the late dictator of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, blew up a Paris-bound flight in Africa, killing 170, including 54 French nationals.
It is hugely important to remember and commemorate those who died and those whose lives were changed forever in the aftermath of the terroristic attacks.
