France Victimes Federation Launches National Campaign and Podcast Series to Strengthen Victim Support

March 2025
UPDATE FROM VSE MEMBERS

To mark European Victims’ Day on 22 February, the communications department of the France Victimes Federation in France launched a series of actions aimed at strengthening our case for an ambitious and structured policy of support for victims throughout France.

I.  A national plea for long-term victim support:

An article co-signed by Maryse LE MEN RÉGNIER, Jérôme MOREAU and Anne-Sophie GAVRILOFF (respectively President, Vice-President and spokesperson for the French Federation) was published on the website of L’Humanité, a French newspaper. The article stresses the urgent need to make aid for victims a protected right by means of a clear, long-term national scheme guaranteeing effective, fair support for every victim, regardless of political uncertainties. This action is part of our call for an ambitious and structured victim support policy, launched on 22 February.

II. Information and guidance tools for victims:

The ‘Parcours Victimes’ website, developed in partnership with the Fonds de Garantie des Victimes (FGTI) four years ago, was highlighted. This site offers an essential information and guidance space for victims in their dealings with the authorities.

L’Essentiel 2024, a booklet providing an overview of the actions taken by the Federation in 2024 and key figures for victim support, was distributed.

III. Awareness and communication initiatives:

To mark European Victims’ Day on 22 February, the Fédération France Victimes launched its podcast channel. A first episode in collaboration with the Fédération Française de Débat et d’Éloquence (FFDE) takes us to the heart of the issues surrounding access to the Law in France:

‣ How to be supported when you are a victim?

‣ What are the paths to restore yourself as person?

‣ What role do victim support associations play in France?

Three podcasts will be produced as part of this collaboration with the FFDE. Episode 2 will deal with school bullying on the occasion of the Assises nationales de l’aide aux victimes in June 2025, and episode 3 will address the issue of consent, on the occasion of the Journée de lutte contre les violences faites aux femmes, on 25 November. Each episode will include several deliverables: a full podcast that will be broadcast on platforms such as YouTube, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast and even Arte Radio, as well as two short videos for social networks, one focusing on popularisation and the other on eloquence.

On 22 February, based on the visuals proposed by VSE, the France Victimes Federation adapted the visuals to local news and distributed them to its network of 130 members. This communication campaign was widely followed by the 1,700 professionals who make up our victim support network.
