We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Dr. Sigal Haimov, a pioneering expert in trauma and resilience, a lifelong advocate for victims and vulnerable communities and a dear friend of VSE.
Throughout her remarkable career, Sigal dedicated herself to strengthening support systems for those affected by trauma, violence, and loss. Her work was driven by a profound commitment to developing compassionate, long-term mental health services and advancing a truly victim-centered approach.
In recent years, Sigal volunteered and worked for Victim Support Europe, where she made a significant contribution to the development of training for law enforcement and victim support professionals through the VSE Training Academy. She provided valued guidance on staff well-being within Victim Support Europe, and played an important advisory role in victim care approaches across policy and project work. Her expertise was also instrumental in supporting the many successes of the European Centre of Expertise for Victims of Terrorism (EUCVT), as well as initiatives such as V-Europe and work supporting victims of the Brussels attacks.
Sigal’s contribution was defined by compassion, professionalism, and a deep commitment to strengthening victim-centred and trauma-informed practice around the world. Her impact will continue to be felt across the victim support community and among all who worked with her.
She will be greatly missed.
